Wheelchair taxi emergency transport

Some rides can't be planned two days in advance. Rolstoeltaxi Spoed is the emergency branch of Rolstoeltaxi Holland: one phone call and a wheelchair-accessible vehicle is scheduled for you right away, throughout the Netherlands.

Background

When do you need emergency transport?

An emergency admission, an unexpected hospital discharge, an appointment suddenly moved to today, or a regular carrier that can't make it: there are plenty of situations where wheelchair transport suddenly isn't "next week" anymore, but "now".

Rolstoeltaxi Spoed was set up for exactly that moment. The same experienced drivers and the same fully equipped wheelchair-accessible vehicles as Rolstoeltaxi Holland, but arranged around switching quickly instead of planning days ahead.

Sound familiar?

  • You need transport within a few hours, not next week
  • Your regular carrier can't make it on time
  • A hospital, rehabilitation centre or care facility is asking for a quick departure

As fast as possible, without hassle on the phone

Every minute counts with an emergency ride, so the request is deliberately kept short. You call, we ask where you're being picked up, where you need to go, and whether any equipment is coming along. That's all we need for an initial booking. We ask additional details, such as the type of wheelchair or luggage, along the way or during the call.

We give you a realistic estimate of the arrival time and the price right away. What we don't do is promise a time we can't keep. If your location is far from the nearest available vehicle, you'll hear that immediately, so you can decide whether that fits your situation.

Who is emergency transport for?

Rolstoeltaxi Spoed is called by travellers themselves, but just as often by family members, informal carers, nurses and staff at care facilities. They arrange transport for someone else and want the certainty that a vehicle will really show up. That's why we always confirm the ride clearly, with a time and a price.

Think of a resident of a care facility who urgently needs to go to hospital, someone who's allowed home earlier than expected after treatment, or a traveller who suddenly has no transport because of a cancelled train or a missed connection. The emergency line exists for all of those situations.

Emergency doesn't mean it gets hectic

Even when the planning is tight, the way we transport you never changes. The driver takes the time to secure the wheelchair properly, checks the belts, and helps with boarding and getting off. Being in a hurry is a reason to work more carefully, not less. If a companion is coming along, they simply sit next to you in the vehicle.
